About Heather King

From a very young age I became interested in the mind and behaviour. I learned through observation how complex individuals are and the different dynamics that exist within family relationships. I had an emotional maturity beyond my years and a natural curiosity which drove me to question in order to gain a better understanding of the mismatch between the individual and their behaviour. The seed was planted and ultimately resulted in a degree of BSc in Psychology (with Honours) and a Diploma in Occupational Studies for a Neuropsychology Dissertation.

Heather KingGrowing up, moving into adulthood and parenthood was fraught with ‘ups and downs’, yet I consider myself blessed that I may have had more than my fair share of life’s challenges. Even the worst experience can become a positive experience if we chose to learn the life lesson that it presents us with. I was always the ‘go to’ person, the perfect listener, the one who helped find solutions – yet struggled with her own answers.

With ADHD in our family, it was not really a surprise when my son was ‘diagnosed’ with it. I learned what being a parent was all about having to cope with this, not surprisingly my skills for tenacity and resourcefulness came to the fore and further developed beyond belief. Suffice to say that I consider myself an ‘expert’ in this area now!

I do believe that we make our own opportunities. One such opportunity that I created was to become a researcher investigating cognitive function in families affected by a serious mental illness. This led to a ‘eureka’ moment for me. I realised that I had a true passion and commitment to making a difference in people’s lives and the value placed on this by people who are desperate to be part of something that may or may not bring about a change of any sort, let alone a cure. I further developed my innate skills for compassion and understanding.

My professional experience has been varied and more recently I have spent the past 13 years or so working in sales and marketing. An invaluable area to better develop both my rapport building and communication skills while enjoying the rewards of considerable success and personal achievement.

In 2008 I was presented with the right opportunity to change direction and follow my heart’s path. In 2009 I became an NLP Master Practitioner and by the end of 2012 I had added Practitioner Time Line Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapist and of course a Licensed Practitioner with NLP4Kids (incorporating NLP4Parents & Teachers and Hypnotherapy4Kids). My inner child was never more excited!

I’ve given you a little insight into my journey – to share my belief that without all this life experience (plus more that I haven’t even told you about on this website) and which now includes being a grandparent, I would not be as well equipped as I am to help your child, you and/or your family.

I look forward to hearing from you so that you can learn how what I do can make a real difference in the lives of those you love and care about as well as yourself.
